Private Candle Making Classes
Book a private class and have the whole store to yourself! A private class is an intimate experience and is tailored to your group's needs. Each person in your group will design their own signature scent, learn the fundamentals of candle-making, and craft two custom candles to take home. You are welcome to bring light refreshments for your group to make your class special for your particular occasion.
Classes can be scheduled to begin at 9:30am, 6pm, or 6:30pm. The class duration is approximately 90-100 minutes. All participants enjoy 20% off of their in-store purchases during class.
What to Expect

Expert Guidance: Our classes are led by Edgewater Candles founder, Mark, who will walk you through the entire process, teach you about candle care, and answer any questions you have about fragrance, small business, and more.

Custom Scent Creation: Blend and remix fragrances from our full collection—including our signature, Zodiac, and Vault scents—to craft a one-of-a-kind scent.

Hands-On Crafting: Each participant makes two 6 oz travel tin candles in their custom scent. Ask about specialty vessels if you want to upgrade your experience.

All Materials Provided: We supply everything you need—just bring yourself! You are welcome to BYOB (no hard liquor, smoking, or vaping).

Take Home Your Candles: Your candles will be ready to take home at the end of class.
Class Details

Duration: Approximately 90-120 minutes. Class starts on time, so be sure to arrive before start time to pick your favorite seat!

Location: Our boutique in Edgewater’s historic Bryn Mawr shopping district, 1050 W Bryn Mawr.

Age Requirement: Private classes have no age requirement, but children under 12 must be supervised by someone in your party.

Cost: The experience begins at $480 for up to 8 people. Additional seats can be added for $60 each, and maximum class size is 10.

How to Book: Pick a date above and purchase your date. Don't see a date that works for you? Contact us with a few preferred date and times so we can schedule your private candle making class.

Cancellations: Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.

TICKETS:
Tickets are non-refundable. One ticket is required for each person attending a Class. You don't need bring any sort of printout - we'll check you in by name.
PURCHASING TICKETS AS A GIFT:
If you're not sure what date to choose when gifting tickets, you can send a Gift Card to cover the price of the desired ticket quantity. This will allow the recipient to choose and purchase their own Class Tickets.
What are your candles made from?
Edgewater Candles are made from midwestern soy wax, cotton wicks, and a blend of essential oils and phthalate-free scented oils. Using only these simple materials, with no additives or dyes, our candles are vegan, clean burning, long lasting, and cruelty-free.
Can I bring empty Mason Jars back for you to reuse or recycle?
Yes! When you return our containers to us for reuse or recycling, you'll get 10% off your purchase on the day you bring them back. Our store is located at 1050 W Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago, and we're open 11am - 6pm every day.
How long do your candles last?
Our 12oz Mason Jar candles burn for approximately 75 hours, and our 6oz Travel Tins burn for approximately 35 hours. To get the longest burn time from your candle, allow the wax to melt across to all edges of the container before extinguishing. This will help avoid “tunneling”, which can prevent some of the wax from being used. Keeping the wick trimmed will also ensure a longer burn time.
Are your products made in the US?
Yes. We make our candles and all of our products by hand in Illinois.

Do you have a Rewards Program?
Yes. We have a simple program set up for you to earn points for purchases and redeem them for discounts on future orders. Details can be found here.

When will my order ship?
We will ship your order within 5 business days. You'll receive tracking information as soon as your package is sent, and the UPS delivery timeframe begins on that day. International shipping is not available at this time. Orders being sent to a PO Box will be shipped via USPS.

Do you offer local pick up?
Yes, we offer local pick up at our store at 1050 W Bryn Mawr Ave in Chicago. Just select "local pickup" as your shipping option at checkout and we'll let you know when your order is ready! We're open 11am - 6pm every day.

What is your return policy?
Refunds
Unused items may be returned for a refund within 30 days of purchase. Just send the item back to us and we'll issue a full refund. If you'd like us to purchase a return shipping label for you, contact us - we can send you a new label and we'll deduct the shipping cost from your refund. You can also bring your purchase back to our Store for a full refund or exchange.
Class Ticket Cancellations
Tickets are non-refundable once purchased and are valid only for the date purchased. If you have questions or need to cancel, please contact us.
Defective Items
Defective purchases that have been partially used may be eligible for an exchange or refund, depending on the situation. Please contact us to discuss your options.
Do you have coupon codes or discount codes?
We sometimes send discount codes or coupon codes in our newsletter, we include special codes occasionally with your order, and we may announce a code on social media from time to time. Certain discount codes may only be used on regularly priced items on our website, and exclude one of a kind items like ceramics. You can sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page.
